Sakura of America is Hosting Two Manga Art Classes

Sakura of America is hosting two art tutorial classes at Big WOW! ComicFest this year. There will be one class on Saturday and the other on Sunday, both starting at 11AM. These classes require pre-registration and will cost a $5 fee. 100% of the funds raised goes to support the San Jose Public Library Foundation. Click Here to register.

Saturday, April 18th  11:00 AM

Manga Faces & Chibis

Learn the fundamentals of how to draw a Manga style face and Chibis - cute and small characters.  Using the Manga Start workbooks #1 and #4, discover how to simplify your character bodies to draw this super deformed style.  This 45 minute class will have you asking for more!   

All materials are supplied by the sponsor – Sakura of America.  

Pre-registration ticket required. Class size is limited to 40 students.  

Class starts promptly at 11:00 AM.    

Instructor bio:  Karen Luk has taught Manga style and comic workshops at Cartoon Art Museum (SFO) and local libraries in the Bay Area. Her artwork encompasses steam-punk themes and Asian influences in her comics and illustrations. See her art online at KarenLuk.net.

Action Lines

Learn how to graduate from drawing stick figures and advance to 3D shapes with basic action poses. Learn how the "line" of the spine dictates the action in a drawn character. Using the Manga Start  workbook #7, discover the fundamental drawing methods of showing action in your drawings. This 45 minute class will have you asking for more!
